Don't Throw That Away! Toronto
Many people have spare tools in their garages that they do not use often enough to keep them hanging around. Some have old wrench sets to get rid of, and others have power tools that they no longer need. Men especially often get new tool boxes at least one holiday a year, so over time these can accumulate into quite a collection. If you are one of those people with more tools than they know what to do with, don't throw them away. Maybe someone in your neighborhood can use them.
There are people in neighborhoods across the country who do not have the tools that they need to make basic repairs to their homes, or the money to pay someone to do them. If you see someone who looks like they could use a hammer or pipe wrench, and you happen to have an extra one, there is nothing wrong with offering it to the person. You could even build a new friendship by offering to help your neighbor do repairs. Who knows, your neighbor may be able to return the favor if you ever have a repair job that is too big to handle by yourself.
People sometimes throw away lawnmowers that are in good working condition because they upgrade to new mowers and have no room for two. Other people end up throwing away such large tools because they decide to move and do not have room to take them. It can be hard trying to put a mower in the back of a packed moving van. If that is the case with you, instead of throwing away perfectly good equipment you should see if there is someone who can use it. Reusing these items not only helps the neighborhood, but it helps the environment by making sure that one less item is put into the garbage.
